Zeeehomewerk....

1. Take a well-known children's story or fairy tale, and retell it from a different point of view. For example, "The Three Little Pigs" or "Little Red Riding Hood" would be very different if told from the wolf's perspective.

2. Then write a brief essay about how the change in perspective invites the reader to make radically different meanings from the original story.

So that means two posts!!!

"Wolf! Wolf!" yelled little Timmy but no one came. No one believed him anymore. Three days ago they had assigned him to watch over the sheep. "Its your job to make sure that no wolves eat any sheep." Timmy remembered his dad saying. That was all that he was doing. The first time he cried wolf they all came running but now, now nothing; It wasn't his fault. " A wolf is like a big, gray, mean dog." Timmy's dad had told him. How was he supposed to know that the gray, hair fluff in the bushes was a baby sheep stuck in between the branches? Was he supposed to have gone and checked? What if the wolf ate him instead of the sheep?
Timmy slowly began backing up, but he was practically pinned against a tree already and the wolf's sharp teeth were only a few inches from his face. He closed his eyes; "Wolf! Wolf!" this was the second time he cried out. The first time the let him off easily. The villagers were mad, but this time, this time they were mad. "Timmy! Where is this so called wolf?" Scorned his dad, "I...I heard something growling in the bushes..." he replied scared. He watched as his dad walked towards the bushes a bit of fear could be seen on his face. Suddenly, a big dog popped out from behind the trees. It had been the neighbors lost dog and it was growling at a squirrel. "This is the last time Timmy! Don't call us unless its a life or death situation!" his dad yelled in anger.
Now, now it was a life or death situation and no one came. "Help! Someone plea-" it was to late...no one came...Timmy felt the wolf bite down on him and with that he was gone.

A change in perspective allows the reader to see both sides of the story and make their own decision. One person may tell the story one way but there would most likely be details missing of how the situation initiated, who said what, what happened before the situation happened and what happened after. When the reader is given both POVs (point of views) they are given all the minor details that they would have most likely missed when they only heard on side. From a complete knowledge of the situation the reader can then make a decision as to what truly happened.

It was a rough time. The economy was crawling in the dust, and many people had nothing to live with. I even heard that people was abandoning their own children in the woods. I’m just an old lady trying to make a living for myself. Yes I have jewelry and a candy house, but these things are not enough. Living in the deepest parts of the forest, isn’t the best place to live on. I just have a little with bird to keep me company. I found out that one of these days, a couple decided to leave their two little kids in the woods, a girl and a boy. I followed the event and yes they were lost. This was my chance to finally eat something else. Yes, you may blain me about cannibalism, but eating candy is not a witch way. I send my crows to go eat their tracking device, breadcrumbs. Then I send my secret weapon, my beautiful white bird, so he could lure them here, to my house. I wanted to remodel anyways, so I let them eat parts of my candy house. Sick you may call me, but being on my ugly shoes, what would you have done. Then a great idea came. “What if me and the little girl ate the boy, and she could work as my slave”. This was my idea, brilliant and perfect. So I putted the boy on my birdcage, and made the little girl feed him, until he would be as fat as a thanksgiving turkey. Everything was perfect; my plan was working amazingly until one day. One day I told the little girl to turn on the oven so we could cook the boy. This was going to be the best day of my life, when the little girl said that she didn’t knew how to do it. Who does not knows how to turn on an oven? This was ridiculous. At that very moment I decided to eat them all, the both of them. I was so mad I pushed the girl aside so I could turn it on myself. When I was almost reaching, the evil little brat kicked me in my bottom and I felt inside the oven. Then she dared to lock the oven door. The children this days have no manners, is incredible how parents raise them. If you think this is the worst thing, you are wrong. The little devils went to my room and stole all my jewelry. It was incredible, now I’m inside an oven, without food, jewelry and inside a candy house. I wrote this in carbon and send it thru the fume extractor, so if any fellow witch try to think on kidnapping children an eat them they will not do it. I hope those little devil brats would life happily ever after.

I always love the original stories to be told in other characters perspectives. This way, the story gets a new reason to be, and seeing thru other characters is a fun way to read it too. These types of "new" stories give the readers the curiosity to know the original story, just to understand the new story. These stories make the readers, read more stories. When both stories are finished, the reader is open minded to understand both stories in their own way. Every story gives a meaning or a teaching, knowing them on many points of view makes this lessons more wide. With these stories the perspective that we had of some characters change instantly. This way we could see them more evil, with a pure heart, we could even feel sorry for some characters we hated before. The perspective is changed the way the author drives the "new" characters. I say "new" because they're the same characters, but with a twist on their characteristics. Our perspective changes completely with these type of stories and help us understand every character in their own little world.

the rich merchant not only has three daughters but also three sons who have little to do with the story. All the girls are good looking, particularly the youngest who becomes known as Little Beauty. The sisters are vain and jealous of Beauty who is by contrast modest and charming and wishes to stay with her father.
All of a sudden the family loses its money and is forced into a poorer lifestyle which makes life more difficult all around and exaggerates the differences between Beauty and her sisters. Beauty and the three brothers throw themselves into working for their new life while the sisters are bored. The father takes a trip in the hopes of regaining his wealth, and the older sisters demand he bring them expensive garments. Beauty asks simply for a rose.

The father is unsuccessful in his attempt to regain his wealth and in despair, wandering in the forest, is trapped in a snow storm. He comes upon a seemingly deserted palace where he finds food and shelter for the night. In the morning he wanders into the garden where he sees the perfect rose for Beauty. Upon plucking it, a hideous Beast appears and says that for his thievery he must die. The father begs for his life and, the Beast agrees to let him go if one of his daughters will take his place. If she refuses, then he must return to die himself. The Beast gives him a chest filled with gold and sends him home. This treasure enables the older daughters to make fashionable marriages. On giving Beauty the rose, her father cannot help but tell her what happened. The brothers offer to slay the Beast but the father knows that they would die in the process. Beauty insists on taking her father’s place, and so she returns with him to the Beast’s palace where he reluctantly leaves her.

In a dream Beauty sees a beautiful lady who thanks her for her sacrifice and says that she will not go unrewarded. The Beast treats her well; all her wishes are met by magic. He visits her every evening for supper and gradually Beauty grows to look forwards to these meetings as a break to the monotony of her life. At the end of each visit the Beast asks Beauty to be his wife, which she refuses although agreeing never to leave the palace. Beauty sees in the magic mirror that her father is desperately missing her and asks that she might return to visit him. The Beast assents on the condition that she return in seven days, lest he die.

The next morning she is at home. Her father is overjoyed to see her but the sisters are once again jealous of Beauty, her newly found happiness and material comfort with the Beast. They persuade Beauty to stay longer, which she does, but on the tenth night she dreams of the Beast who is dying. Wishing herself back with him, she is transported back to the castle where she finds the Beast dying of a broken heart. She realizes that she is desperately in love with the Beast and says that she would gladly marry him. At this the Beast is transformed into a prince, the Father joins them at the palace and the sisters are turned into statues until they own up to their own faults.

The Prince and Beauty live happily ever after because their "contentment is founded on goodness."

Oooo boy y hated Ducky Beckham, not only he was beautiful, but he could play soccer too! My popularity was going down, so I decided I had to try something new. I tried to play basket ball, but those were the days Ducky Jordan was on fire, (and nobody could beat Ducky Jordan). I tried Golf, but every body seemed to be more interest in all the affairs that Ducky Woods had, instead on how the golf player played. There was only one sport left, Soccer. I new I could not beet Ducky Beckham, he had been practicing before he had feathers, I had only one option. I decided I would try to injure him, in the middle of the game, then it would be my chance to make a goal, my life would be the same again. The day came where me and ducky Beckham would play a one on one soccer mach. All the ducks of Ducky valley were there, the ducky girls where cheering and quaking and going crazy for Ducky Beckham. He did three goals in less than three minutes, I was going furious! In one of my attempts of making a goal, I saw the referee wasn't watching and instead of kicking the ball I kick Ducky Beckham in the leg, this caused him to fall, break is neck, elbow, eye, bilk, head, small intestine , liver, loose some feathers, chip he's thooth, and have some Diarrheahttp. My plan had work! People started calling him the Ugly duckling. My life was going good once again Buhahaha!. But since Ducky Beckham had money for being the number one soccer player in all Ducky valley he paid a plastic surgeon to reconstruct is body. He became so beautiful People started mistaking him for a swan! A SWAN!!! Boy, I hate Ducky Beckham for me he will always be The Ugly Duckling!! Kuakakaka Kuakakakahttp:

Ther are always different point of views in every story told. Reading it from another view invites the reader to imagine the story again, but whit a different flavor. It can be a positive or negative experience, being that some times we only like to hear one side of the story.

    The Pea and the Princes

Once upon a time there was a pea, the most royal pea at the palace. Its name was Harold. At the same time there was this handsome prince who was looking for a princes, a real princes. He lived in the same palace where the pea lived. So one night a princes knocks the door, looking like a homeless person she still assured she was a princes. The Queen came up with an idea, she would place a pea in the bed where the princes would stay and see if she was a real princes. That same moment the Harold knew the Queen was going to chose him above all the other peas. Assertive little pea, he was chosen to lay under the 20 mattresses where the princes was going to sleep. That night when the princes was sleeping the pea crawled up to the princes and beat her up til she felt it. Then Harold crawled over again to the bottom of the mattresses. The next morning the Queen asked the princes how she had slept that night. And she said:"OH, I could not even sleep. It felt like there was something under my sheets." The Queen said:"Only a real princes would feel a pea under 20 mattresses." Little did she know for the pea had not been under the mattresses the whole night. But the prince had already fallen in love with her and they decided to get married. So they lived happily ever after, but for the pea it was a different story. It was placed on a museum where every night Harold escaped and tortured the Queen for what she had done to him that night that he will never forget.

    Essay

It is good to read and see things in more than one point of view so that you can get to deeper understanding of all the characters involved. As humans we only like to see one side of a story, our side most of the times. When we see other side or points of view for the story, we not only understand better the reasons for the things already done, but also develop a more open mind to whatever situation we find next in life or in the same story.

My little sister and I live in this place called Yugusland where there is a lot of snow and very scary animals. One day my little sister came to me and told me that I needed to watch out for this little wolf called “The giant one”. But I told her that I didn’t have to do that because it was a little wolf I mean, what can a little wolf do? My sister said “that little wolf mom did something really bad two years ago. She started telling me the story about this young boy that yelled: There is a wolf here, please help me. But no one came, because no one would believe a little kid. So now that this scary wolf had a little wolf we have to be careful with that scary animal. Now I started to shake and was very scared about this ‘Giant one”. One night I was outside looking for rabbits and, all of sudden I hear steps, and then I remembered the story my little sister told me, now what should I do? What if it kills me? I don’t want to die, I started running and running until something jumped in front of me. I couldn’t see because it was too dark. I started yelling “the giant one’’, “the giant one”. My sister started laughing and laughing. Then I asked her, why are you laughing about? I have the little wolf in front of me and its going to kill now both of us, and you are not worried? My sister then turns on the flash light and pointed at the little wolf, and then I turned my head and saw the little wolf licking my pants because I had just eaten a chocolate cake. My sister said in a laughter voice, that she was lying like the little boy did in that story and no one believed him when the actual wolf came. Next time you should read the story and not listen to my opinion.

Changing of the wolf story means makes me understand that not all the stories of wolfs have to have a fatal ending. We should see the positive characters and happy behavior of the little wolfs: for example they like chocolate, like to play…
Changing this make other see another point of view of the story and the life itself. Also in negative issues we can have a positive perspective, a funny side, and happy moments.

"Snow White and the seven dwarfs"

A long time ago, a child was born to a queen and king and she was called Snow White. When the queen died, the king married again. This new queen was nice and loved Snow white. The queen gave orders that Snow White was to be treated as well as possible, but snow white missed her mother and therefore she treat bad her new mother. Snow White grew very beautiful and one day a Prince riding by, saw her and fell in love with her. The queen was beautiful too, and every day she asked her Magic Mirror, "Who is the fairest in the land?" and the mirror always answered, "You are the fairest one of all".

But one day Snow White stole the queen's mirror, and in a rage the queen gave orders to one of her Huntsmen to take Snow White into the woods and kill her. The Huntsman couldn't do it, and she ran away. She fled into the woods where Seven little dwarfs lived. Their house was small and strange. Snow White entered the little house and finding it very untidy, started to clean up. Upstairs she found seven little beds. She was very tired and stretching out on one of the beds, was soon asleep.

When the Dwarfs came home they were surprised to find Snow White and after some argument, decided to let her stay. She promised to cook and look after them; the Dwarfs were happy to have her as a slave. The Queen discovered where Snow White was living and disguising herself to look for her magic mirror. when the queen got to the Dwarfs cottage, she gave Snow White the poisoned apple to eat and as soon as she bit the apple, she sank into unconsciousness and took the magic mirror. Thinking she was dead, the Dwarfs built a coffin and put her in it. She lay in the forest in her coffin. One day, the Prince was riding through the forest looking for Snow White and found her. but it was too late for him to do something for her lovely snow white.

I'm one of the people that get tired sometimes of the "lived happily ever after"... thats why i give this different point of view where snow white is the bad one. this give the story more interesting drama that makes you forget about the real story of snow white. I hope it catches your attention and make you see the story in another point of view.

    The innocent tailors

I’m tired of everyone saying that we are crooks for fooling the king of making a suit that was not real!!!!!! Sorry I’m just little upset. My name is Bob, Bob Harrington, and along with my partner Larry Spinelli, I am proud to say that I am a master tailor extraordinaire! But our names have been tarnished after an accusation that our last masterpiece, a royal suit for the king, was a sham.
How dare they! Does no one understand the amazing qualities of this garment? The first thing my partner and I said before making it was, “not everyone would be able to see the material.” As a matter of fact it was stated that only the smartest of people would be able to see said garment, due to its magical tendencies.
BUT NOOOO!!! No understands the delicacy that it told to prepare it. Do you know how difficult it is to assembly such art? Or even how strenuous it is find the fabric needed to complete it? We feared for our lives when we thought that we couldn’t find everything in time. No one sees that, no one sees the effort put into making it. We even took extra precautions while sewing, due to the fact that the material is super sensitive to light and the air, we told the king to give us a room in which we could make the attire and that no one was to disturb us. Do you think that we liked being stuck in an old dusty room that looked more like a dungeon than anything? If you do then you’re sadly mistaken.
People even came to see the fabric being made, even though we warned people about the harm (thankfully nothing was damaged), and they were amazed with the results. The king himself examined the piece and he loved it. I’m starting to think that they could see it in the first place, if anything we are the ones who were deceived.
Nevertheless, everything was working according to plan and the king had this beautiful royal suit and was pleased to say the least. He put on the suit and then did usually scrolled of vanity around the town, when suddenly the most evil of little boys yelled out that the king was wearing anything at all and that he, in fact, was naked! Oh the fury that rising in me when I remember that ridiculous statement. How can a mere boy be able to see such an amazing work of genius! Especially since the same little boy who said this atrocity is the biggest misfit in town. How many rotten tomatoes that kid has thrown, only God knows. And to top this event of madness off, everyone in town began to agree with him; the king and the people who examine the fabric beforehand also fell to the ridiculous idea. My partner and I had to flee the town in order to escape the king’s wrath and the angry mob.
I don’t know what are going to do if our reputation has been tarnished like this. Hopefully we could be able to settle in another place far, far away and set up shop once again. But mark my words! I will not come to make that accursed garment ever again, even if anyone comes to make me king! And for that little boy, I know that one day he will get his come upping. And well deserved it will be when it does.
Farewell, I hope that you may spread this story and help us mead our tarnished name.

  21. I love the original stories, they are just stories that almost all kids grow up with around the world. So when someone writes one in a different perspective, it just interests me so much. This allows the reader, especially those who have read the original, understand the story from both sides. Ultimately gives the power to come up with a decision about the events that take place in it. Different details that would be missing in the story would be revealed on how something may have happened or may have been said. Plus it also comes down to it being an amusing read.
