http://www.readbookonline.net/readOnLine/11289/

This is the link to the story. I want you to post your immediate reactions to the story. I also want a written analysis of this story. This should be printed up. (double spaced, times roman, 12 pt). This will be due next Tuesday! (yes we have class). The length should be about 2-4 pages. I am looking for a lot here including, but not only, character. Dig deep...there are people that have done PhDs on his work, so there is a lot to talk about.

Wow...ok...so i didnt understand most of the story, but the ending just made me really mad. To me it seemed that Farrington was just a drunk. He used alcohol to try to escape from his problems, but that just made it worse. Everytime he was confronted with a difficult situation, in which he would become angered or annoyed, he suddenly got the "thirst". I dont think it was fair of him to beat his son at the end, but normally when you mix alcohol and anger someone is bound to get hurt. I also disliked the fact that Farrington's wife left her kids home alone and, going of what it said at the end of the story, she seems to have known about his previous drunk attacks...so why did she leave her children home alone to face their drunken dad? This story is def. confusing

WITH ALL YOU RESPECT GUYS HE IS THE TYPICAL 'SOB'THAT LIVE IN MOST OF THE HOUSES maybe is just my opinion but get on your car here in Puerto Rico and go around a monday night is the begging of the week and take a look at the bar , barritas or pubs there always full people spend all the money they have for the week and in there homes theres no food for the family . i have much much more to say but thats my reaction

I totally hated this story...didn't get most of it...

So I guess this man is just frustrated with his own life and takes it out in his wife and kids. His boy was just trying to make him dinner when he beat him up. His boss just wants him to do his work but instead he stares at his work stupidly and goes to get a drink. In front of his friends he makes himself sound like a clever man who stood up and defied his chief. He lost his reputation on being a strong person, he was angry because this lady wasn't really interested on him; but he is married, what the hell is doing looking at other woman. He definitely needs to rearrange his priority list and make it a bit more promising for the future. I bet he only works to get money and drink it all up with his friends, seems to me he doesn't care much for his family.

The dude is such a...... Well the thing is, that is interesting how everything in this mans life sucks, and because of that he tries to take it with his little boy. But thru the story we could see the fact that what comes around goes around. The dude was a piece of work, that is 100% true, but he got what he deserved. I got really mad with the end because the story ended with him having the last laugh, and that sucked. Still it was a very interesting life the person had, because it was like Karma taking over him. I liked the story thou, a little bit, 'cause it was cool reading about the dude's unfortunate events.

wow.... the firts thing i thought was that this story happen day by day in this world.Farrington is a guy that cannot do anything good because of his problem with alcohol. In his work or home he is always angry because he is not drinking and he takes that out on everyone. He is only happy when he is at the bar with his friends, and for a time, he can control and enjoy himself. At the end of the story, he is angrier than ever, primarily at the fact that he is not drunk, so at the end he beats his child, because he couldn’t but the fire out, effectively displacing his own problems upon the innocent.

First of all this type of story happen all the time. This guy knew he had a problem put didn’t wanna face the fact that he needed to change so he took it out on everyone. And what impact me the most was at the end of the story, when the kid beg him not to beat him up, he look at his dad and told him that, wow…. That is something that you see now a day and is normal. He took out his anger on everyone that was around him because he wasn’t drinking at that time he was only happy when he was at the bar.
