1- baby like an octupus(simile) = this means that the baby was trying to grab every present at the same time. 2- class like a three ring circus (simile) = this could mean that the class was a mess, everyone is doing something different at the same time. 3- foot steps like thunder(metaphor) = this means that the noise the foot made were loud and maybe scary. 4- pillow like a cloud(metaphor) = this means that the person was really tired and when he or she went to sleep the pillow was really soft. 5- felt like a limp dishrag(simile) = this means that the person felt worn out, without energies.
1) The baby is being compaired to an octopus because it was grabbing on all the presents the same way an octupus' tentacles grab on to everything tightly

Simile: 1 The writer is comparing the baby's arms and legs too an octupuses. Why? well ussualy we asume that the octupus have lots of arms, and the baby is actign like one.
